In this workshop Jeff Ollerton (Professor of Biodiversity, University of Northampton, UK) and Karin Blak (author, professional trainer, and psychosexual and relationship therapist) will take you through the stages of turning your academic writing, thesis and research into articles for non-academic readers. Spreading the word of your academic research is not only beneficial to society, your engagement with the wider community can help in your career too.

The workshop includes:

  • Turning a short piece of work into an article
  • Creating headlines
  • Images that work
  • Engaging on social media
  • Online platforms
  • Supporting your career

Both Jeff and Karin write articles for non-academic audiences, on-line and in print, and will be sharing with you what they have learnt along the way. Some examples of their writing:

This is a 3-hour, interactive workshop. Please bring along a short piece of your writing, e.g. an abstract from a paper or your thesis.
