Experimental Evolution as a Method for Determining the Fate of Peramphithoe parmerongfaced with Global Climate Change

Global climate change is an internationally recognised issue in ecosystem protection and management. Scientists have advised that it is impossible to avoid global climate change, even with serious policy changes. This has peaked our interest in the ecosystem’s capacity to adapt, which could potentially predict the future of our environment under clime change stress. The proposed research aims to determine the adaptive capacity of an Australian marine amphipod, Peramphithoe parmerong, under climate change stress over multiple generations. This information could potentially be used to predict how this species, as well as other temperate species worldwide, will adapt and survive under the unavoidable effects of climate change.
