Program Guide - 3965 - Bachelor of Environmental Management degree with a Major in Biology
Students completing a Bachelor of Environmental Management degree with a Major in Biology must complete 144 Units of Credit (UoC) as described in Tables 1 and 2. Students must complete a core set of courses totalling 120 UoC. This core comprises:
- All courses from the compulsory course list (60 UoC); PLUS
- All Biology Major courses; PLUS
- courses from the Directed Electives list.
The remainder of courses for the single degree are Free Electives (that may be taken from any Faculty of the university) and General Education. This program structure is illustrated in Table 1:
Major Courses | 72 UoC (12 courses) | 120 UoC Core Courses | 144 UoC |
Directed Electives | Remaining credits (6 UoC)
Compulsory Courses | 60 UoC (10 courses)
Free Electives | 12 UoC (2 courses) | 24 UoC
General Education | 12 UoC (2 courses)
Please note: the totals in column 2 do not add up to those in columns 3 and 4 because some subjects are both Major Courses and Compulsory Courses. |
While there is a great deal of flexibility with this program, students should note that there is no room to undertake a double major. Students wishing to undertake a double major should look into Program 3970 instead.
Students can use the tables below to help plan their program of study. Please note that there is a degree of flexibility for the stage of a degree in which students undertake General Education subjects, Free Electives, and Directed Electives. However, students should assess whether desired elective subjects have pre-requisites and plan their degree accordingly.
Stage 1 | BABS1201 | BIOS1101 | BIOS1301 | MATH1041 | ECON1107 | GEOS1211 or GEOS1701 | Directed Elective | General Education |
Stage 2 | BEES2041 | BABS2204 or BABS2264 | 2 subjects from: | GEOS2821 | LAW9801 | MGMT2721 | General Education
