HANDLING FILE LOCKS

File Locking is a function of myCMS when a user is editing a file. Once a user starts to edit a file, the file is automatically locked so that no one else can start editing the file. The file will remain locked until
  • it completes workflow approval.
  • is unlocked by the user.

How will I know if a file is locked?
If you see either of the following icons next to the file you want to edit - the file is:
locked by you
locked by another user
If you attempt to edit a page locked by another user, you will receive the following popup:

How do you remove a lock?
If you are sent an email requesting a file be unlocked, you must either:
  • finish editing that file and submit it through the approval process or
  • tick the checkbox next to the file, select 'File' and from the drop down menu click 'Unlock'.
