CREATING NEWS and EVENTS


 
NAMING CONVENTIONS
 
Seminars and Event Items
  • A BEES seminar should be called 'seminar140805' if it is to be held on the 14th of August 2005.
  • An Event should be called 'event140805' if it is to be held on the 14th of August 2005.
  • If there is more than one seminar or event planned for the one day, then the second should be called 'seminar140805b' and the third 'seminar140805c' (or 'event140805b' and 'event140805c').
News Items
  • News stories should be named 'news140805' if it is entered on the 14th of August 2005.
  • If there is more than one news article entered on the one day, then the second should be called 'news140805b' and the third 'news140805c'.
 

 
Create new DCR
1. Click on 'File' >> 'New Record'

4. A News specific DCT will appear.

OPTIONS
Search Title, Contents description and Keywords are mandatory Fields.
 
News Headline
This is the Headline Link for the News [e.g. New Courses for 2006] or Events [e.g. BEES Seminar] items. These will automatically be added in chronological order to either the News or Events pages. They can also be added to the HomePage by the Site Adminstrator.
 
News Summary
This is a brief description of the News or Events item that appears under the headline - normally less than 200 characters although the Home Page insert will allow up to 300 characters.
 
Feature
Click on the add icon button to the right of 'Feature' and select either 'Plain Text', 'Image', 'Layout Table' etc. Copy and Paste or type the required information into the Feature window. Add more features if required.
 
News or Events
Items can be listed as either 'News', 'Events' or both 'News and Events'.
  • Items listed as News will become visible only after the entered date (e.g. an item to be announced on a particular date).
  • Events Items will be listed chronologically according to the entered date.
  • Items listed as both 'News & Events' are treated as both a 'News' item and a separate 'Events' item. That is it will not appear on the News Page until the entered date although it will be listed chronologically on the Events Page.
Approval
Preview the page, make any additional alterations necessary, then Close and Submit the page for approval.
 
Note: Ensure this is submitted as 'News Article' and not Content Approval.
