1967: B.Sc. with Honours in Geology in (University of Birmingham)
1968-1977: Worked in England and the Solomon Islands as a geochemist and economic geologist
1977: Ph.D (University of New England)
1977-1980: Employed in the quarry industry
1980: Appointed as Lecturer / Geology UNSW
1991-1997: Head of the School of Mines, UNSW
