Very little research has been conducted on the soils of Cumberland Plain Woodland, which is a threatened vegetation community found only in Western Sydney. Broad scale restoration activities and management decisions are being made without an adequate consideration of how soils and soil processes shape or influence the vegetation.
My research aims to understand and highlight the role of soils in promoting and maintaining viable, self-sustaining patches of Cumberland Plain Woodland. This research is focussed on understanding the links between the soils and vegetation of natural, degraded and restored areas so that appropriate management and restoration techniques may be developed.
