RESEARCH

My research interests are at the interface of evolutionary biology, behavioural ecology and functional ecology. I try to place proximate mechanisms in an evolutionary context to understand individual strategies, life-history evolution and its implications for population dynamics.
Current research topics are
  • Host defence strategies and evolutionary trade-offs in host-parasite systems
  • The adaptive significance of maternal effects
  • The evolution and signalling function of colour ornaments
  • The evolution of female mate preference and choosiness
