RESEARCH

My research interests are at the interface of evolutionary biology, behavioural ecology and functional ecology. I try to place proximate mechanisms in an evolutionary context to understand individual strategies, life-history evolution and its implications for population dynamics.

The adaptive significance of maternal effects

The evolution and signalling function of colour ornaments

The evolution of female mate preference and choosiness
