  • Phylogeny and functional morphology of mammals, particularly marsupials and metatherians
  • Biogeography of Gondwanan mammals
  • Origin of the Australian marsupial fauna
  • Combining molecular and morphological data in phylogenetic analyses
  • Dating phylogenies
  • Phylogenetic methodology in general

ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) DE120100957: ‘Using ancient fossils and new methods to unravel Australian mammal evolution in deep time’

National Science Foundation grant 0946430: ‘Mesozoic mammals from South America: their impact on mammalian evolution, phylogeny, and time calibrations’ – Senior Scientist, in collaboration with Prof. Guillermo Rougier (PI; University of Louisville) and Dr. John Wible (Senior Scientist; Carnegie Museum of Natural History).
