CURRENT OH&S COMMITTEE
The Head of School has ultimate responsibility for occupational health and safety in BEES. The Head of School is assisted in this regard by the Safety Officer and the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OHSC).
Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of each month and Minutes of meetings are distributed to school staff, students and placed on OHS Noticeboards within the School. Anyone wishing to raise any OHS issues please email either the School Safety Officer or the Chairperson of the OHSC at least two days prior to the next meeting.
COMMITTEE STRUCTURE AND RESPONSIBILITY
Committee
The School OH&S Committee shall comprise both elected and appointed members from the workplace as outlined in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Science OH&S Committee's Constitution. Undergraduate and postgraduate student representatives shall be elected from those bodies. Management may appoint representatives such that the employer representatives do not outnumber the employee representatives. Meetings and Minutes

The Chairperson shall be elected by and from the employee representatives. The Chairperson shall have a term of two years and is eligible for re-election. Safety Officer
The Safety Officer is appointed to the OHSC and may act as Secretary and on occasions, act as Deputy Chairperson when required. Review
The Committee will review all OHS policies and practices and the consultative arrangements in the workplace. The review will ensure that all safety issues are being addressed and that consultative arrangements are effective. |
