Geoffrey Brown awarded University Medal, Research Excellence Award and Insight Group Prize

Congratulations to Geoffrey Brown who was awarded the University Medal (2009) on April 21st at his graduation ceremony for Bachelor of Social Science (Hons.).  On 6th April, Geoffrey was awarded the Research Excellence Award, which is awarded to holder of the University Medal who shows great promise to conduct research at the postgraduate level.  Geoffrey was awarded through high achievement in his undergraduate studies, combined with an excellent honours thesis entitled:  "Young working-class men in Mount Druitt: Negotiating the landscapes of the post-industrial city".  His honours Class 1 thesis was completed for a Bachelor of Social Science (HONS) in Social Science and Policy, UNSW.
 
Geoffrey was also awarded the Insight Group Prize (2009) for the best honours thesis in the Bachelor of Social Science program at a special Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences presentation evening on the 22nd April.
 
Geoffrey recently began working on his doctoral thesis in BEES in 2009 under the supervision of Dr Wendy Shaw.  His thesis is in Economic Geography and is interested in the use of 'Welfare-To-Work' as a regime to regulate Australia's labour market.
