SPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS Increase your future opportunities by combining studies in SIS in a Double Major with disciplines such as Geography, Geology, Environmental Earth Science, Biological Science and many others.
REMOTE SENSING & GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS WITHIN BEES
BEES undertakes multidisciplinary research in the broad area of spatial information systems, which include remote sensing, geographical information systems (GIS), and land information systems.
Researchers within BEES are participants in the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information and the European Space Agency's research programs. Currently 5 academic staff are working in the spatial information fields of remote sensing and GIS. Active links are maintained with researchers in Asia, North and South America, China, and Europe and include NASA, European Space Agency, NASDA (Japan) and the Canadian Centre for Remote Sensing.
In association with the School of Surveying and Spatial Systems, BEES offers undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research in remote sensing and geographic information systems. In collaboration with the CRS SI, BEES offers short courses on remote sensing and geographical information systems to the wider community. The School maintains a remote sensing and geographical information system data archive, and world-class computing facilities for the processing and analysis of these data.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
The structure of the Spatial Information Science Major sequence is as follows: Level I
Level II
Level III
The BSc (3970) comprises a total of 144 uoc (including 12 uoc of General Education). Within the degree you must complete at least one Major, combined with either another Major or a Minor.
If you want to follow a career path in either the geographical, geological or environmental disciplines you should include other first year courses such as GEOS1601 Australian and Global Geographies and GEOS1211 Environmental Earth Science.
